Fiction. This novel is about the last Christian forgiven by Christ. The mans name was Dismas and he was the forgiven thief on the cross next to Christ. In this, the twentieth century, God puts Dismas back on earth to destroy the world with fire, as is for-told in the bible. However he is not told what to do with his ability over the control of fire. The novel deals with his struggle to find his purpose in life and what he should do with this ability. He is finally forced into the knowledge of that purpose by the interference of the United States government and the Russian secret service.
