詹姆斯·喬治·弗雷澤（James George Frazer，1854年1月1日—1941年5月7日），齣生於英格蘭的格拉斯哥，是一名社會人類學傢，是神話學和比較宗教學的先驅。他在格拉斯哥大學和劍橋大學的三一學院學習。弗雷澤在1914年獲得爵士爵位。由於長期勞作，1930年之後，他的視力大為下降。

弗雷澤的主要研究領域包括神話和宗教。除瞭意大利和希臘，他沒怎麼旅行過。他進行研究工作的主要來源是浩如煙海的史料文獻，以及來自世界各地的調查錶。很顯然，弗雷澤在人類學上的啓濛者是人類學開創者愛德華·伯內特·泰勒，還有泰勒的那本名著《原始文化》（1871）。弗雷澤一生的研究盡在金枝一書。《金枝》第一版齣版於1890年，包含兩捲內容，等到1915年第三版齣版的時候，已經擴充到十二捲瞭。

A classic study of the beliefs and institutions of mankind, and the progress through magic and religion to scientific thought, The Golden Bough has a unique status in modern anthropology and literature. First published in 1890, The Golden Bough was eventually issued in a twelve-volume edition (1906-15) which was abridged in 1922 by the author and his wife. That abridgement has never been reconsidered for a modern audience. In it some of the more controversial passages were dropped, including Frazer's daring speculations on the Crucifixion of Christ. For the first time this one-volume edition restores Frazer's bolder theories and sets them within the framework of a valuable introduction and notes.
