Norman Mauskopf is a well-known documentary photographer whose other work includes Rodeo (1985) and A Time Not Here (1997). Selected from an impressive body of work taken over a period of four years, the photographs are beautifully reproduced in large-format sheet-fed gravures. From Santa Anita and Saratoga to Chantilly and Epsom, Mauskopf visited the great tracks to capture the pageantry and beauty of the horses and the people who populate the "Sport of Kings."
