黄宗智（Philip C.C.Huang），加利福尼亚大学洛杉矶校区（University of California，Los Angeles）历史系教授（1966—2004年），中国研究中心创办主任（1986～1995年），Modem China创刊编辑（1975年至今）。主要著作有《华北小农经济与社会变迁》、《经验与理论：中国社会、经济与法律的实践历史研究》，以及法律史的三卷本：《清代的法律、社会与文化：民法的表达与实践》、《法典、习俗与司法实践：清代与民国的比较》和《过去和现在：中国民事法律实践的探索》。
