"The Prisoner's Dilemma" is a provocative story about what happens to private citizens who try to sue corporations. When a poorly maintained truck heavily loaded with concrete loses its brakes, careens down a mountain, and kills 25 children in a school bus, the parents decide to sue. Their attorney, David Killiam, quickly learns the parents cannot get justice from those who decided to use the dangerous truck, because a Supreme Court case from the late 1880's protects corporate leaders from personal liability. Killiam faces overwhelming obstacles when the case lands in Supreme Court where the swing vote of a single Justice could affect millions.
