作者很擅长写孤独、精神有问题的人，特别是中年女性。故事开头通常是很正常的日常细节，然后慢慢角色开始不正常，故事中后段角色代入别的角色，形成身份错位和迷失。其恐怖感是隐秘的，仿佛我们努力维持正常，以为自己很正常，但其实已经疯了。
