The Hungry Brothers is the comical, semi-autobiographical tale of two brothers who are very, very hungry . . . to make art. They are so consumed with making art that when their father asks if they would like a sandwich, they are, in fact, not hungry. In his debut children's book, comic book artist John Mejias has employed his printmaking skills to create a unique book that is simple in style and text yet engaging and colorful. As the brothers become hungrier, the colors evolve from primary to secondary colors from beginning to end. Children of all ages will enjoy the tale of The Hungry Brothers and will hopefully be inspired to make art in their own lives. John Mejias is a comic book artist, public school teacher, and printmaker, among other things. He is the mastermind behind the triannual comic Paping, and the annual Paping Soap Box Derby. He is also featured in The Best American Comics 2008 (Houghton Mifflin; edited by Lynda Barry). He lives in New York City with his wife and daughter.
