In the year 1863, a time fraught with violent social upheaval, samurai of all walks of life flock to Kyoto in the hope of joining the Mibu-Roshi--a band of warriors united around their undying loyalty to the Shogunate system. In time, this group would become one of the greatest (and most famous) movements in Japanese history...the Shinsengumi A new member arrives from Edo to join the Shinsengumi--the renowned Ito Kashitaro, an intellect and master swordsman. The positive reinforcement he brings to the group and his emphasis on strengthening the mind alongside the body make him popular among the men. But his romantic pursuit of Kamiya brings yet another crisis to those who know her true identity.
