Ricardians入门读物之一——小说类除了The Daughter of Time，只需读这一本就够了。虽然是小说，却也没偏离史实，对几个谜题——Clarence之死，Hastings之死，Gloucester夺权，甚至Princes in the Tower——都给出了相对plausible的解释。作者属文笔细腻一派，用了大量心理和对话描写；大部分人物形象都很立体，较单薄的是Buckingham和Elizabeth Woodville。没有写成俗气的爱情小说，这点也很难得。
评分Richardian必备小说.作者的文风相当严谨漂亮，塑造人物非常成功。战争都是万不得已的选择，约克和沃里克伯爵家的孩子们是从小一起长大的呢，看到Ed4跟沃里克伯爵决裂时特别难过，本是同根生，相煎何太急。不似中国皇室的夺位之争大有完全泯灭孝悌之嫌，小说在描写玫瑰战争每个参与者面对战场另一头亲人时的苦涩心情相当准确而感人。悲剧就是把美丽的东西毁灭，so did the war.

评分其实没读完 但后面太惨真的不忍心接着看（跳到Anne去世的那块看了几章） 爱四多活十几年不好吗？？ 只看了半本书多一点，配角里Margaret of Anjou、Somerset、John Neville印象比较深，还有Edmund, earl of Rutland的死那段比较突然。
