Blume (permaculture, International Institute for Ecological Culture) has been at the forefront of alternative fuel technology for 30-plus years. In the 1980s, he wrote and hosted a 10-part how-to series, Alcohol As Fuel, for KQED, the local PBS station in San Francisco. Widespread distribution of the show-and a companion text prepared by Blume-were canceled by KQED following pressure from some of the station's corporate sponsors. Now some 25 years later-as conventional energy prices are sailing through the roof-Blume's work is finally made available in print. He provides general readers with a wide range of information about the history, production, and use of alcohol fuel, and demonstrates how a permaculturally-designed ethanol system could provide us with surpluses of local food, energy, community and power. Distributed in the U.S. by Consortium Book Sales and Distribution.
