Max and his younger brother, Josh, are as close can be. Aside from similarities in appearance and interests, Josh is the reason Max survived his cancer--Josh's stem cells, harvested when he was a fetus, saved Max's life. Connected as the brothers are, Josh is shocked when Max is arrested for the brutal murder of a young girl. As Josh tries to reconcile the brother he knew with the monster portrayed on television, he must also deal with his own guilt: If his cells had not saved Max's life, would the murder victim still be alive? In this compelling portrait of the intersection where science, family, and morality collide, Josh will come to a number of startling revelations--revelations that have dire implications for Max's future, and for his own as well.
