Music is a beautiful phenomenon, and musical instruments are wonderful artifacts. For some people - like the author -they can even be an obsession. Strolling around he wonders how pianos get into small rooms, how children in the Canadian wilderness were able to take a violin or piano lesson. He imagines, in a jazz club, how the trombonist might knock someone out in his enthusiasm, or that the piano might bolt away during a wild solo. Back in his studio he starts putting to paper what he had imagined before. The result is striking.
