The 5th edition is without a doubt the best by far. But still parts of the book can be controversial. Take “will” and “going to” for instance. You likely won't find too many agreeing with Murphy on those exact connotations listed in the book...Good as an intro to grammar for ESL students though, if they can already read quite well.
