'Nobody gets to be a gunfighter for ever.' The last words of his dead partner weighed heavily on Luke Stafford's mind. He needed to rest. He'd ride north to Storm Creek, Wyoming, where he'd meet up with an old friend. They'd eat good food, drink fine whiskey and talk of their days in the cavalry - but Stafford was to find it wasn't going to be that easy. In the town a woman had been murdered. Her death would set Stafford against powerful men who were ready to kill. If he was to survive once more Luke would need to think fast and shoot straight.
