Set in New York in 1916, The King of Ragtime is based on a real-life dispute between Scott Joplin and Irving Berlin. The ailing Joplin wants Berlin to produce his musical drama before he dies, but Berlin denies receiving the manuscript, and now Joplin is suspected of murder.
