The age-old struggle to produce year-round entertainment has produce a host of unbelievably silly sports, the most outrageous and inane of which are gathered together in this riotous collection. Covering a huge variety of events and activities, it lists the likelihood of death or injury for each sport as well as its history, cost, potential rewards, and requisite clothing and equipment. Some are conventional sports--such as lacrosse, cricket, and baseball--that upon closer inspection are actually quite strange, while others push the limits of sanity and good taste, among them camel wrestling, dwarf-tossing, and Florida's famous crab racing.
