A tribute to Japanese film maker Yazujiro Ozu and
his cinematic masterpiece Tokyo Story, Wim Wenders
reiterates the movie s journey to the fishing town
of Onomichi as a personal pilgrimage. The German
film maker describes the real town of Onomichi as
he finds it with the shy and admiring eyes of a
sensitive foreigner: in color photographs and in a
long prose poem, while the 24 pictures of the book
can be seen as poems themselves. Through this
combination of text and images the town of
Onomichi is transformed into both a poetic and
a real place before our very eyes.

A tribute to Japanese film maker Yazujiro Ozu and his cinematic masterpiece Tokyo Story. "I'm a photographer of places. My greatest pleasure is to arrive somewhere I have not been before, to wander around just on my own, to just look and take pictures. I prefer not to know a thing! That's my way of discovery."
