WHISKEY Jackson, Mississippi, attorney John Clements is charged with representing Roosevelt Daulks, the nephew of a prominent African-American city councilmember, who is accused of brutally murdering an elderly woman. Despite suspicions of his clientas guilt, Clements sees a successful defense as a means of garnering more business in the black community and higher political connections all around. When a pretrial victory springs Daulks, and Clements learns that his client plans a killing spree to eliminate all witnesses to his crime, Clements must decide whether to turn in his well-connected client, thereby risking his own life, or to keep silent, reap substantial monetary rewards, and live to enjoy them.
