This series can be used to support a range of courses including citizenship studies GCSE and post-16 programmes. It has an accessible magazine style and coverage of contemporary issues. The second edition sees the addition of "Media Matters", as well as comprehensive revision of existing titles. "Media Matters" considers the power of the media to influence perceptions and actions. It includes extensive coverage of how the Internet and other global media impact on communities. Other titles in the series include: "Democracy in Action", which provides information on how Britain is governed and covers key political issues such as voter turnout, elected mayors and the impact of devolution; "The Citizen and the Law", which covers Britain's legal system, including coverage of the Human Rights Act and recent reform of police powers and youth justice; and "Human Rights" includes material on the right to education, rights of terrorist suspects and moves to a European Charter of Rights. There is also a new edition of the "Teacher's Resources" title, which includes teacher's notes for "Media Matters" and all the student's books. This particular text, "Global Concerns", has been fully updated to include the impact of events following 11 September 2001, with new sections on terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and the globalisation debate.
