第一次看覺得寫得太好瞭，很詳實的中印比較。細讀瞭幾個章節，比方關於農業的，覺得大點說對瞭（比如土地分配製度和灌溉），但是還不夠詳細。比方為什麼印度的土地製度搞成這樣，跟選票有神馬關係等等。前段時間Perry Anderson在LRB上有一係列印度曆史書評，可對照看看

比較中國和印度的社會經濟發展，更多時候是轉型序列、製度安排、社會情境的差異，而遠非民主/不民主的政治性問題所能概括。這本書不僅豐富瞭對印度的理解，而且也為理解我們自己開啓瞭一個新的視角。比如勞動密集型的産業結構方能讓農村勞動力完成現代化轉型，比如官員與資本的緊密聯係能夠提高發展效率，比如前三十年的平均主義和基礎設施建設為經濟騰飛奠定瞭不可或缺的基礎。第十章更是精華，照應瞭民主與發展的經典問題，說明集權體製對於發展既不是“必須”的也不是“足夠”的。而印度的民主並不能夠像理論上說的那樣讓政治傢注重於提供社會保障，有種族的原因，也有地方政府資源和能力有限的原因。中國的非民主體製，也在危機處理、信息流動和閤法性上有著深刻的隱患。除此之外，這本書也為如何進行宏觀的政治經濟分析提供瞭一個良好的範例。
