洛麗·摩爾，1957年生於紐約州，畢業於康奈爾大學創意寫作係，1983年憑第一部短篇小說集《自助》奠定其在美國文壇的聲譽。之後她相繼齣版短篇小說集《就像生活》《美國鳥人》，以及長篇小說《字謎遊戲》《誰將開辦青蛙醫院？》和《門在樓梯口》等。她的短篇小說《你也很醜》被約翰·厄普代剋收入他主編的《二十世紀美國最佳短篇小說》。
