Greyhill Danby, a powerful Talion who has transferred from Europe to serve as the new Chief Talion, must smooth things over between the European factions and Kerry Thorsen, the new Grand Dame they don't accept. But the Seattle contingent is wary of Greyhill's loyalties in such a controversial matter. When a series of death threats arises, Greyhill must find out who they are coming from and stop them. As he investigates his leads - the European Kyth, the renegades Kerry has recently taken in, and Kerry's new assistant, Piper Ryan - Grey can't seem to keep his eyes off the mysterious and beautiful Piper. He can tell she's hiding something, but isn't sure what. Piper has found the one thing she's been searching for all her life - her older half-sister Kerry. But the reunion is not at all what she expected, especially when she learns neither she nor her sister are fully human. As she tries to come to terms with this newfound knowledge, Piper fears that her discovery of her sister's whereabouts has triggered the dangerous threats. She doesn't know whom she can trust, but she can feel Grey closing in on her secrets. He may be her saviour - or he might cost her everything, including her heart.
