英文極淺白，和布羅茨基的難懂成一對比。起筆隨意、散文化，慢慢地到下半部分點齣詩眼，又往往令人驚艷。一位自傳性很強的作者，集中幾篇寫他父親的記錄瞭老年癡呆癥加重的過程，非常感人。但是對自身以外的事物關注不夠，取材不廣，所以貌似後勁不太足，第三部分比前兩部分略弱。
