這是一本寫於2011年Java8發布以前介紹函數式編程的小書。書中用函數式的方式實現瞭List以及combinator，用actor介紹瞭並發編程。同時作者也是Programming Scala 的作者之一，所以有些例子是參考Scala的語法用Java來實現。

之所以隻給四星，是因為其推薦的資料不是很給力，這本書也可以算作一個函數式語言的快速入門，講瞭一些必要的東西，和一些思維的轉變，第一章非常好，個人感覺，也提到瞭從lambda，Combinator到Category Theory，這些對以後修煉內功非常的有用，但是沒有在每一章給齣參考資料，讓喜歡往祖墳上刨的我，感覺不是很爽。說白瞭，看完瞭這本書，隻能給你一個導引，你需要繼續看Scala, Clojure, Haskell，和一些理論的書籍，不過有個介紹也不錯。

一本70多頁的小冊子，浮光掠影的介紹瞭如何用 Java(非 Java8)實現函數式編程。這本書的尷尬在於不懂函數式編程的讀者讀起來隻見樹木不見森林，懂瞭以後又覺得過於淺顯。如果讀者隻是想瞭解函數式編程到底是什麼樣，讀一遍倒也不會花很多時間。
