全班一致好评这门课目前最喜欢的书所以花了一天多的时间读太细 data collection惊人 wish I could be part of that project 个人也不认为这本书deterministic 毕竟如果有structural intervention还是可以有所改变的只是这一点在美国比较困难就是了。。在国内还是比较可行的总之灰常喜欢赞赞赞！

关于neighborhood effects比较新的书。1，neighborhood effects不是伪命题：全球化并没有消灭空间上的不平等，在一些地方反而加强之；贫困在空间上的聚集是贫困的复制机制之一；针对individual selection bias的批评，作者认为个人选择也是neighborhood effects的一部分。2，试图将个人选择、neighborhood以及更大的结构性因素统合在同一个分析框架下。3，shared expectations on social control 和trust是社区层面neighborhood effects不断复制的机制，可以通过社区民间组织改善。4，批评了贫困研究的“个人化”倾向，穷人的应对机制并非无穷无尽，而是受结构制约的。

He discovers that neighborhoods influence a remarkably wide variety of social phenomena, including crime, health, civic engagement, home foreclosures, teen births, altruism, leadership networks, and immigration.
