评分哈代描写风景真是好，有种纯净与高远。还需细细体会。小说本身是通过情节发展来展现人物性格的。模模糊糊地，看到穿红衣的士兵，轻率不羁，阴沉执着的农场主，沉稳可靠吹长笛的有些文化的农民，还有那些远处的农民们，善良好心、笨拙简单。那时候那地方的人宗教感多强，活在宗教中，有引领有原则有畏惧。女主莽撞冲动，爱过年轻英俊的军官，最终end up with a reliable 一直为他付出的人。
