踏下心来读，才发现中世纪英语并没有想象那么难（相比于阅读同时期的汉语作品）。很多词看着像乱码，读出声意思自然明了，韵味也就出来了。 “人在阅读的时候并非通过单词拼写来辨识，而是用眼扫过单词的‘shape’。拼写不同，shape也就不同于平日所见，阅读速度自然下降。但中世纪的作品大多为诗歌，诗歌就应该是放慢速度才读得出味道，所以不用急，一切刚刚好。” 为了这句话，今天就没白活。希望九月的最后几天，我能好好的。

读到目前最喜欢的故事。故事讨论的是nature of women，讲故事人是个挑战中世纪道德礼法的女性，一辈子有五个丈夫，很擅长引诱和控制男人，毫不掩饰地说自己嫁人就是为了钱和性，而且是合法享受并不是通奸。她的存在似乎就是对男性指责女性是“wicked wife”这一stereotype的嘲弄。在她的故事里，女人是男人的教育者，“女人最想要的是对男人的控制”这个答案贴切地描述了讲故事者一生的追求。然而，在故事的最后，女人虽得到了对男人的控制权，却心甘情愿地顺从了男人的愿望，不得不让人为nature of women到底为何物产生疑惑。作为故事中的故事，Chaucer才是这个故事真正的讲述者，他最后的设计或许体现了他对女性的根本看法。anti-feminism和feminism交织，跌宕迷人。
