John Davis对爵士乐的了解总体算是比较全面的，然而写得却不充足，以及这年头没人会去翻纸质词典了。爵士乐的海洋太浩瀚，远不是一本精装硬皮书能涵盖。关于爵士乐的书，通病是重传统轻当代，JD写当代显然努力了——相比其他同行，然而篇幅还是远不足。偏欧美，淡日本。虽然这本书于2012年出版，内容看着却像是2002年出的。还是太晚，还是不到位。
