從曆史、劇本、導演到錶演各個方麵的比較性論文集，對於從戲劇研究進入電影研究的人是不可多得的入門survey，但對於直接進入電影的幫助不大。其中個人最喜歡曆史部分，尤其以Gunning的早期研究和Keiko的早期日本電影研究為最愛。另外再一次證明搞創作的還是少來寫學術論文，一般都不咋的（Eisenstein和Brecht除外）
