Sophocles' "Electra" tells the story of the revenge Orestes and Electra take on their mother, Clytemnestra, for the murder of their father Agamemnon, after he returns from the Trojan War. In Sophocles' depiction of this myth, Electra admits that her actions are shameful even though they are just. Each play in the "Greek Tragedies in New Translations" series - meant for the non-specialist reader - is preceded by a critical introduction and is accompanied by notes designed to clarify obscure references and to explain the conventions of the Athenian stage.

Electra和Chrysothemis的对话好像是Antigone和Ismene的再现；Sophocles着重刻画的Electra是疯狂的复仇女神，为了复仇可以不计生命，可以说是Aeschylus 笔下the Erinyes的人类形态；古希腊同人文学的佳作。。
评分Antigone all over again and again. Can justice do harm？阿伽门农到底先射鹿还是先俘虏了Chryseis啊？他为什么一边献祭Artemis一边惹怒Apollo啊？
评分虽然读的不是anne carson的译本???? 姐妹dynamic像极了Antigone.. 相比euripides的更喜欢这个electra的人物塑造

评分安卡森的an oresteia里头，最打动我的就是索福克勒斯的这本，简直是杜拉斯的味道，(而擅长解构，反讽的欧里庇得斯总让我想起特别喜爱的ali smith)。如果说俄狄浦斯是弑父恋母，觉得Elektra就是弑母恋弟，感情浓烈到那样一种地步，已经模糊了不同感情领域的边界。Orestes终于动手复仇，更像是出于对形销神毁般悲痛的Elektra一种强大的"同情"，是为姊复仇，而不是为父。Elektra和Antigone这两位偏执少女，是索福克勒斯一对最耀眼的女儿。
