不知道為什麼張純如寫書總是不能抓住要點，像個話癆一樣喋喋不休。比如說到水門事件（跟這本書內容的關係微乎其微），居然還要把整個事件概述一遍。這是一本瞭解華裔移民史不錯的書，但是如果要把張純如稱為”學者“的話，就言過其實瞭。
