France Morin, left New Museum in 1994 after 25 years working as a institutional curator in New York. Since then, she embarked her journey to open up a new language for speaking about the relationship between art and life.
The Quiet in the Land is a nonprofit art and education organization founded and directed by the independent curator France Morin. It organizes projects in the form of long-term collaborations between artists and communities that are deeply rooted in the rhythms of everyday life. These projects demonstrate how an artist’s gift to open up new ways of seeing, to forge connections between persons from diverse backgrounds, and to inspire positive change might contribute to the process of reconsidering the potential of contemporary art as a socially grounded practice.
This is the documentation of the project in Salvador with the Projecto Axe between 1997 to 2000.
