大段大段的都是今日走過瞭哪裏哪裏，大段大段的都是彆人指路，從這裏嚮前有什麼什麼，再要麼就是大段大段的與主要情節不搭界的詩歌；所以顯得冗長。而且gandolf還有眾多精靈多有故作神秘的颱詞，顯得非常不自然。從思想上看，作者仍然非常保守，不僅體現在他對一味贊美過去，將曆史視作不斷墮落的過程，而且宣傳龍生龍鳳生鳳的封建思想，反復強調能力挽狂瀾的隻有遠古偉大帝王的後裔。

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (1892年1月3日－1973年9月2日)，英國作傢、詩人、語言學傢及大學教授。1915年畢業於牛津大學，研習盎格魯—撒剋遜曆史和語言，顯示齣令人矚目的語言學天纔。隨後從軍，參與一戰，一年後因病就醫轉文職至終戰，奇幻寫作生涯在此期間發端。1925-1959年於牛津擔任教授，同時展開一係列神話故事的創作，認為撰寫和閱讀神話是對生命中至高真理的沉思。他最膾炙人口的作品有《霍比特人》（1937）和《魔戒》（1954—1955），被譽為現代史詩奇幻作品的鼻祖，影響深遠。

个人度过诺干版本的《魔戒》，觉得朱学恒先生翻译得最好，朱先生本人也是一个魔幻小说的研究学者，只是目前朱版的《魔戒》很难在见到了。
