IMO, even better than "the selfish gene". Once you spend sometime getting yourself familiar with technique terms (the appendix of this book is a good starting point), you'll be able to follow Dawkins solid reasoning and humorous story-telling skills.

It is much more academic than the selfish gene, more for professionals / students in bio. For educated laymen who wish to learn the ideas, those are well covered in the last a few chapters in the selfish gene.
