对比剑桥插图古希腊史，这本书似乎腥风血雨多了太多，而对于德国的文化历史成就介绍非常非常有限。内容很全面，介绍不够详细，所以要边读边借助WIKI才能明白。评论很多，看得出作者对于德意志民族的“爱恨交加”；优点是译者没有被河蟹，尤其是对于东德的介绍，很令人反思

原书The Cambridge Illustrated History of Germany在亚马逊上评价还可以，但是本书翻译的差强人意。德国作为一个近代才出现的概念，虽然历史并不长，但是要用一本300多页的的书来讲述它，也只能取其概要这本书是学者写的科普书，如此精简，又丧失了一些故事性，可能看起来趣...
