Very enjoyable and well-written (if somewhat light) new take on old-fashioned potboiler fiction. The narrator's Tourette's outbursts of free association are the high point, or at least were for me. I don't envy any Chinese translator who takes this one on -- it'll be a tough gig.

Jonathan Allen Lethem (born February 19, 1964) is an American novelist, essayist and short story writer.

His first novel, Gun, with Occasional Music, a genre work that mixed elements of science fiction and detective fiction, was published in 1994. It was followed by three more science fiction novels. In 1999, Lethem published Motherless Brooklyn, a National Book Critics Circle Award-winning novel that achieved mainstream success. In 2003, he published The Fortress of Solitude, which became a New York Times Best Seller.

In 2005, he received a MacArthur Fellowship

不得不说妥瑞氏症是本书唯一的亮点。如果要给这本书分类的话，那么这肯定是一本医学科普书，让读者深刻的了解了妥瑞氏症的症状。不论这本书的销量如何，我还是坚持自己的观点，给这本书打上大大的差评。无情节，无语言，唯一塑造了一个怪胎的主人公。已经很少看到这样受到美国...

翻译后就没味道了,原文的精彩之处却变成了味同嚼蜡毫不押韵的文字堆砌,我当然不是质疑译者的水平,而是这类书本就不适合译成中文,有能力的朋友们还是看原版吧,应该是本好书,这是作者的成功,译者的煎熬,读者的郁闷,引进者的失败
