Michael Schudson，當代美國最具影響力的媒介社會學學者之一，資深教授。現任美國加州大學（聖迭戈）傳播學教授、哥倫比亞大學新聞學院教授。主要研究方嚮為新聞學及其曆史、大眾文化。著有：Discovering the News(1978)、The Power of News(1995)、The Good Citizen(1998)、The Sociology of News(2003)等多部論著。其中《發掘新聞》為他的成名作，開創瞭美國新聞史研究的社會科學流派，三十年來曆久不衰。
