Since 1982, J. M. Coetzee has been dazzling the literary world. Coetzee has won many literary awards, including the Nobel Prize in 2003, three CNA prizes (South Africa's premier literary award), two Booker prizes, the Prix Etranger Femina, the Jerusalem Prize, the Irish Times International Fiction Prize, and the Commonwealth Writers Prize. He lives in Australia.

评分有人诟病这本小说理性的探讨多过其故事性，但可能纯文学的人生、学术的人生本就如此。对我来说，各个主题的探讨很有趣，侧写的学术界文学界众生相更有趣，但惊我心动我魄的是作者对Elizabeth与继父、姐姐、儿子儿媳的爱欲纠葛蜻蜓点水的叙述。
评分雾里看花的感觉，造诣不够，不能完全读懂，放一段时间再重读吧。
