掃盲書。獅子寫瞭穆罕默德其人、伊斯蘭教起源時候的社會背景民族習慣，四大哈裏發其人及統治，古蘭經、聖訓、遜奈的校正和勘定，遜尼和什葉分離，蘇非主義哲學，薩拉菲主義和沙特傢族，原教旨主義脈絡，以及伊斯蘭現實變革的可能性和方式。比較客觀，文筆不錯。還是能看到一點什葉傾嚮。

1月18到現在，每天地鐵火車上讀幾頁，379頁整整讀瞭一個月，有50頁的reference，還算良心。

作者還是有抵觸情緒。這本書這麼薄要講清楚伊斯蘭的起源和發展經過是不可能的。感覺寫作的意圖更多的是化解成見，而不是係統性的講解伊斯蘭，作為一個宗教，一個社會體係，一種身份認同。總之太復雜瞭這本書沒講清楚。
