Spinning Blues into Gold explores the rough-and-tumble world of Chess Records. Leonard and Phil Chess were Polish immigrants to Chicago, strivers who found success when they recorded the music of another group of outsidersthe Southern migrants who created the blues. Chess recordings of Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Howlin Wolf, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and Etta James gave birth to rock and roll and still influence where music is heading today.
