我喜歡Neil在教堂的祈禱，他問what is it I love, Lord?很難講究竟誰在掌控誰，最後的分手又是不是早有居心命中注定。最美的一幕是第4章Brenda和Neil輪流遊泳，“if I stayed away too long she would not be there when I returned.” 這種對生命和愛情的不安太驚艷，於是皮格馬利翁的雕像有瞭生命。

The title story is a bitter-sweet love story, the images depicted by Roth is rather pathetic than erotic, a poor guy wants to be with a rich girl, all the love stories turn out to be such cliche.
