终于在这个周末看完了Empress Orchid. 这本小说读起来还是很有趣的, 至少可以吸引我. 遣词造句方面明显比Red Azalea进步很多, 更sophisticated. 绝对不能把它当作历史小说来读, 因为慈禧在书里被描述成了一个充满正义感的坚强女人, 而咸丰和同治则都昏庸无能. 看到英法联军入侵...

看到Empress Orchid ，其实是先被里面故宫的俯视图吸引，虽然细致程度无法和《大紫禁城》相比，但是左页下方宫殿名称示意都是意译的，这点让我体会到作者的用心。其次里面能看到清宫里常常会用到的词汇或是俗语，比如“太监”、“宫女”、“磕头”、“福如东海，寿比南山”...
