Roll up! Roll up! Behold a water-drenched tale of marvellous creatures, transgender sailors, sex-changing fish and doomed seals... Tales of Boy Nancy tells the stories of those born in-between - voiced by a Sailor, the Girl who loves him, and an omnipresent Showman.
Cath Nichols has published in various poetry magazines including Smoke, Orbis and The Rialto and has received two Arts Council England awards to develop her writing. She lived in Manchester for eight years, co-hosting BBC GMR's Gaytalk, co-founding the fetish night club Club Lash, and editing the cult magazine Queer Soul. She also made a living as a freelance journalist.
Since moving to Liverpool in 2001 she has devoted her organisatonal energies to poetry and works for The Dead Good Poets Society. This is her first collection.
"...bravely and firmly written... Nichols does not tell us what we should think, but delights in allowing us to draw our own conclusions. [The tales are] sensitively told [showing] a very strong sense of humanity... The uncertainty voiced in 'The Train From Chester is On Time' is beautifully and delicately handled. How many of us would dare to ask such relevant questions? ... Nichols does indeed speak in tongues."
