如果要瞭解印度各個宗教體係這本書會是很好的選擇。相對而言韋伯的研究有其局限性和偏頗之處，這種偏頗在Richard King的著作中已經被分析得很周全。此書對於印度文明和宗教傳統所作的介紹比較淺顯易懂和全麵，還帶有一些宗教經典的節選，入門好書。
