從曆史背景來看這本書相當有意義。直至今日景觀規劃角度棕地改造的內容與深度也基本未脫離當年各種具有進步意義的跨學科方法。然而在Niall Kirkwood青睞的工程技術與設計結閤的邏輯中，兩者聯係的具體方式隻在個彆章節中被詳細展開，更多時候隻是理論意味上的相互指涉。最後一部分對悉尼奧運會場地改造介紹的最為深入細緻，然而遺憾的是對這塊large scale brownfield本身的曆史及具體特徵陳述略顯不足。而且似乎會給人留下這樣的印象：clean-up或 remediation隻是遵循泛可持續發展標題下的
