故事從一本紀念文集開始。1991年Eric的父親過世,幾位父親童年時期的誠摯的舊交,為父親編纂了一本紀念集。書中重建一群男孩在戰後台灣的青春記憶。Eric拿到這本書時,注視照片良久,父親當年到美國時,才18歲,一晃眼他們一家人便已在美國生活了數十載,立足於美國社會。Eric名副其實成為人們眼中的「華裔美籍第二代」、「ABC」、與外黃內白的「香蕉」一族。
