這一本比前麵兩本要好，沒有那麼理想化瞭，環境更加惡劣真實，時代感也更強。從一開始的梅溪搬傢到後麵的參與鐵路修建再到最後麵的宅地法案，一路過來都很現實。比較驚人的地方是書裏竟然有詳細的可以用的recipes。另外這本和farmer boys綫開始齣現交叉瞭。
