所谓 ultimate concerns 在中文语境中得“终极关怀”可能有不一样的诠释，“终极关怀”一定跟信仰相关么？特别是Tillich 扩大这种“关怀”到社会和政治领域，以及其本身的“民族主义”兴起的大背景下，何为“终极”还是不够清楚。

评分人都应该有一个人真的ultimate concern。所谓真，就是它是永恒的，不然最终都会破灭，带来不好的结果。现代人的最典型的假的ultimate concern就是成功和nationalism。所以可能只有不断追求内心深处的欲望，心怀天下，大爱，而不是世俗的标准才能获得真正的快乐。
