It is collection of four interviews made between 1967 and 1985, on how to think about death from a philosophical as well as a personal point of view. Jankélévitch discusses the moment of death ; how we envision our death through the death and the mourning of others ; what support religion offers us ; the experience of the non-believer ; the link between and impact of scientific advancement upon death (euthanasia and human cloning). The fourth interview describes human behaviors that lead to death, including the death penalty, violence and war.
