Exquisitely nubile and very rebel-
lious Fionna Downs has a fantasy
about her grandmother, the richly
loathed, perversely loved, and
arrogantly wealthy Violet Enright.
Somebody shoots the domineering
matriarch aboard her luxury yacht,
sneaks out the door, locks it from
the outside, and disappears, pre-
sumably somewhere into Lake
Michigan.
Suspects among family members
and self-professed friends would be
dazzlingly abundant. There would
be the hippie ex-priest with the
jewel-crazy wife, the bisexual sur-
geon with the nymphomaniacal
wife, the discredited bishop, the
somewhat sinister banker, and the
mysterious visitor from County
Mayo. Plus... as a kind of thriUing
and terrifying afterthought, young
Fionna herself.
